This is Highland Park 15 Years Old, a single malt from Orkney also known as Viking Heart, bottled at 44% in a 70cl bottle. It matures mainly in European oak sherry casks, and the sherry influence sits alongside the soft peat smoke of the distillery. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
Honey, dried fruit and orange peel lead on the nose, with warm spice, vanilla and a little peat smoke. The palate offers sweet malt, raisins and light caramel, with the smoke well integrated. The finish is long and sweet with soft smoke, ending on a dry, lightly spiced oak note.
