This is a 16-year-old Highland Park single malt, enhanced in Calvados barrels and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is sold under the Alchemist name.
The colour is white wine. The nose is rum-like, fairly smoky and fruity, with a little spice. The palate is full-bodied, with walnuts, almonds, marzipan, green tea and butter caramel, followed by liquorice and orange marmalade, then barley, vanilla, apricot and a touch of smoke.
The finish is malty and sweet, with a hint of smoke and iodine. It is not especially long, but the smokiness lingers.
