An 18-year-old single malt from Highland Park, founded in 1798 on Orkney, bottled at 43% ABV. Part of the barley is malted on the distillery's own floor, and the malt is dried with peat from Hobbister Moor, whose heathery vegetation contributes to the smoke character.
The nose is heather honey, ripe fruit and soft vanilla, with dried fruit, warm spices, a light floral note and earthy peat smoke behind. The palate is full and round, with honey, ripe fruit and soft caramel, warm spices and oak, and light smoke balancing the sweetness. The finish is long, soft and warming, with honey, dried fruit and spicy oak, and a quiet trace of peat.
