This is a 21 year old single malt from Highland Park, bottled at 46%. It marries three types of cask: first-fill European oak hogsheads seasoned with sherry, ex-bourbon casks and refill casks.
The sherry-seasoned hogsheads bring tangy fresh ginger and sun-ripened oranges. The ex-bourbon casks add soft ribbons of vanilla cream with a drizzle of honey. The refill casks balance the first-fill oak, leaving a hint of lightly toasted oak and softening the smoky, spicy character.
