Highland Park Cask Strength is a 14 year old single malt from Orkney, bottled at 63.8% ABV. It was matured mainly in first-fill European and American oak that had been seasoned with sherry, and it has a deep amber colour with copper highlights.
On the nose there is heather smoke, raisin, fig and black cherry, with toffee, cocoa and a little salt spray. The palate is oily and smoky, with blackberry compote, dark chocolate and spiced fruitcake, plus clove, pepper and ginger. The finish is long and warming, ending on heathery smoke and coastal salt.
