Highland Park Cask Strength Heather is a limited edition Orkney single malt bottled at 63.6%, without filtration and with natural colour. It is made from barley smoked entirely over Orkney heather peat.
The whisky was matured in first-fill European and American sherry-seasoned casks together with selected refill casks. A few drops of water are said to open up more fruit, spice and heather smoke.
The nose has heather smoke and heather honey, orange peel, vanilla fudge, light caramel and dried fruit, with chocolate, tar and cinnamon. The palate offers dried fruit, chocolate, citrus and toasted nuts. The finish is long and smoky, with dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and caramelised malt.
