Highland Park – Leif Eriksson

Highland Park Leif Eriksson is a limited edition single malt released in March 2011. It celebrates Leif Eriksson, the first European traveller to reach America, who set out from Orkney around the start of the 11th century. The whisky is matured wholly in bourbon casks and American oak sherry casks, with no European sherry oak involved. Its yellow gold colour and flavour come from Orcadian peat and those casks. The nose is honey-tinged orange blossom with vanilla, spicy dried oak, mango and melon. The palate is soft vanilla and sweet barley with a hint of grape, and the finish is Muscovado sweetness with wisps of peat smoke.
