Hillrock Double Cask Tawny Port Cask Finish is a rye whiskey from Hillrock Estate Distillery in Ancram, in New York's Hudson Valley. It is bottled at cask strength, 57.5% ABV, in a 75cl bottle.
The distillery grows its grain on its own estate and malts on site. Here its Double Cask Rye is finished in tawny port casks, which add a nutty, oxidative sweetness over the spicy rye base.
The nose is caramelised dried fruit, walnut and oak over rye spice. On the palate, nutty port sweetness and fig meet peppery rye, and the finish is long, with dried fruit, nuts and warm spice.
