Hillrock Estate Solera Aged Bourbon is a New York bourbon finished in Port casks, bottled at 46.3% in a 750ml bottle. This is the 2022 limited edition. The distillery describes it as the first American whiskey aged by the Solera method, an old technique used for Sherries, Ports, Madeiras and Cognacs. The barrels are arranged in a pyramid. A small portion is drawn periodically from the lowest tier and replaced with an equal measure of new whiskey in the top barrels. No barrel is ever emptied, so older whiskey gradually mingles with younger.
