Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon Whiskey Port Cask Finish (75cl, 46.3%)

This is a solera-aged bourbon from Hillrock Estate Distillery, finished in Tawny Port casks and bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Hillrock was the first company to offer solera-aged bourbon in America. In a solera, whiskey moves periodically from lower casks while new spirit is added at the top, so older and younger whiskeys blend over time. Tawny Port casks spend years oxidising in wood, which gives a nutty, dried-fruit character. Hillrock has used the same cask type in its Cathy's Cuvée series, where it was described as adding red berry and chocolate. Here it is the only finish. Hillrock grows its own grain on site.
