Hillrock Solera Aged Port Cask Finish Bourbon (75cl, 46.3%)

This is a bourbon from Hillrock Estate Distillery in Ancram, in New York's Hudson Valley. The distillery grows its grain on its own estate and malts on site. The bourbon is aged by the Solera method, a fractional system more often associated with sherry and Madeira, and is then finished in port wine casks. The finish adds dark-fruit sweetness to the bourbon beneath. It is bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The nose is dark berries and dried fruit over caramel and oak. On the palate, plum and raisin from the port sit alongside the vanilla and spice of the bourbon. The finish is long, with sweet fruit and oak.
