Horse Soldier Small Batch is a wheated bourbon from American Freedom Distillery in St. Petersburg, Florida, in a 750ml bottle at 47.5% ABV. The mash bill is 70% corn, 20% soft red winter wheat and 10% two-row barley, and the whiskey is blended in small batches.
The distillery was founded by retired U.S. Army Green Berets of ODA 595, the team whose story inspired the film 12 Strong.
On the nose it offers honey, apples, citrus, toffee and leather. The palate brings caramel, honey, butterscotch, woodiness, cashew and spiced raisin, with a hint of toffee.
