House Of Suntory Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt 100th Anniversary Edition (70cl)

This is an 18 year old peated malt from House of Suntory's Hakushu distillery, issued as a 100th Anniversary Edition in a 70cl bottle. Keizo Saji built Hakushu in 1973 as the second Suntory distillery, carrying on his father's vision of innovation. It stands at an elevation of 700 metres or more, and its soft water comes from rain and melted snow filtered through Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps. Fermentation takes place solely in wooden washbacks, which hold heat in the cool air. A variety of pot stills and casks are chosen to suit the climate at altitude.
