Hurst Knoll 7 Year Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 50.5% ABV (101 proof) by Rare Character Whiskey Company. Blender Pablo Moix put it together from sourced Kentucky rye barrels with a high-rye mashbill, and it matured for at least seven years in new charred American oak.
Moix tested the blend against Bénédictine, vermouths, Campari and espresso liqueurs, so that it keeps its character in cocktails as well as neat.
The nose leads with allspice and clove, with lime and warm caramel behind. On the palate come lime, green apple, caramel, toffee and nutmeg, and the finish is medium-long, with white pepper and clove.
