Hyde de Villaine HdV Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay 2023 Los Carneros (75cl)

Hyde de Villaine HdV Chardonnay 2023 is a single-vineyard white from Hyde Vineyard on the eastern edge of Los Carneros, in Napa Valley. HdV is a partnership between the Hyde family of Napa and the de Villaine family of Burgundy. It is built from two selections of mature Chardonnay vines, the old Wente clone and the Calera selection, grown in shallow loam over clay hardpan and cooled by winds channelled through the Petaluma Gap. The wine went through full malolactic fermentation, was aged in French oak with 20 percent new, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. The Wente selection brings citrus blossom, yellow apple and a touch of gunpowder, with mineral and savoury notes. The Calera selection adds pear, peach blossom, citrus and vibrant acidity.
