The Hearach is a single malt from the Isle of Harris Distillery, named as a nod to the people of the island. It is bottled in small batches at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour.
The whisky is a mix of 85% bourbon casks, 11% Oloroso sherry casks and 4% Fino sherry casks, with whisky aged between 5 and 8 years. It is lightly peated, at 12 to 15 ppm.
The nose is gentle peat smoke with roasted malt, stewed apple and a little spice. On the palate come candied ginger, vanilla and honey, a creamy texture like whipped cream and a touch of fresh leather.
