The Hearach is a single malt from the Isle of Harris distillery, named after the island's inhabitants. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The distillery was founded in 2015 and has been making this lightly peated spirit, at 12 to 14 ppm of phenols, since December of that year. The Hearach was its first release of the single malt.
Green gold in colour, it has a fresh nose of menthol, aniseed, cut hay and green barley, with green apple behind. The palate brings barley, a little peat and salt, then clove and pepper. The finish is long, with liquorice-tinged peat and green tea.
