Isle of Harris – The Hearach (70cl, 46%)

The Hearach is a single malt from the Isle of Harris distillery, named after the island's inhabitants. It was the first release of the malt the distillery has been making since December 2015. It is lightly peated, at 12 to 14 ppm of phenols, and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The notes lean towards green, fruity and malty tones. The nose is fresh, with menthol, aniseed, cut hay, green barley and green apple. On the palate there is barley, a hint of peat and salt, then clove, pepper and parsley. The finish is long, with liquorice-tinged peat, fresh green beans and green tea.
