Isle of Jura – 10 Year Old 1990s (40%)

This is a 10 year old Isle of Jura single malt, bottled in the 1990s at 40% abv. It is an unpeated island malt, matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks, with some batches showing a light sherry influence. The character is slightly coastal and a little unconventional. The nose is fruity, with banana, raisins and apple over a plain malty base, plus wet hay, damp wood and a faint mineral edge. On the palate it is mild, with toffee, light spice, green fruit skins and a touch of brine and earthiness. The finish is short to medium, with dry oak, pepper and a hint of vanilla.
