Isle of Jura – 18 Years Red Wine Cask (70cl, 44%)

Isle of Jura 18 Years Red Wine Cask is a single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 44% ABV. It matured for 18 years in bourbon casks before a short spell in wine casks that had held Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux. The time in wine was kept brief so that it would not cover the character of the long bourbon maturation. The clear forest berry notes come from the Bordeaux influence. The nose is toffee, cinnamon and tropical fruit. On the palate there are dark forest berries, dark chocolate and coffee, with a hint of charred wood.
