Isle of Raasay – 2018 Distillery of the Year Edition (70cl, 50.7%)

An Isle of Raasay single malt from 2018, issued as the Distillery of the Year Edition. It is bottled at 50.7% in a 70cl bottle, with American oak and virgin oak named among its casks. The distillery brought barley growing back to the island of Raasay in May 2017. Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day restarted it after more than 40 years. Fermentation runs for 96 to 110 hours, unusually long. It preserves the high mineral content of the local water, filtered through volcanic sedimentary rock, and gives a berry-fruit character before the spirit meets any wood.
