Isle of Raasay – 2019 Single Cask 18/629 (70cl, 62.5%)

A single cask bottling of Isle of Raasay single malt from 2019, drawn from cask 18/629 and bottled at a cask strength of 62.5%. It comes in a 70cl bottle. Raasay is a young distillery with a clear starting point. Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day restored barley growing on the island in May 2017, after more than 40 years without it. The spirit is fermented for 96 to 110 hours, far longer than usual. That keeps the high mineral content of the local water, filtered through volcanic sedimentary rock, and is said to give a berry-fruit character before any cask is involved.
