Isle of Raasay – 7 Year Old Na Sia Peated Rye Cask Single Cask 18/839 (57.3%)

This is a peated single malt from Isle of Raasay, matured for all of its seven years in a single rye cask, number 18/839. It belongs to the Na Sia Single Cask Series and was bottled at a cask strength of 57.3% without chill-filtration. Only 243 bottles were filled. Because the rye cask held the spirit throughout, its spice works alongside the peat smoke rather than as a short finish. The nose has wood smoke, butterscotch, vanilla, toasted marshmallow and a little lemon. On the palate come black pepper, cinnamon, malty sweetness and caramel. The finish is long, with syrupy sweetness, drying oak, pepper and gentle smoke.
