Isle of Raasay – The Chinkapin (50.2%)

This is a single malt from Isle of Raasay, matured in North American Chinkapin oak. Peated and unpeated spirit are aged separately in new and refill Chinkapin oak casks, then combined. It is bottled at 50.2% without chill-filtration or added colouring. The whisky is distilled, matured and bottled on Raasay, the first legal whisky distillery on the Inner Hebridean island. The nose has gentle wood smoke, cherries, ripe plums, raisins, maple syrup and toasted oak, with a lift of citrus. On the palate, smoked ham gives a barbecue character beside caramel, honey and cinnamon. The finish brings barbecue smoke, dry oak and caramelised sugar.
