J. Henry 4 Grain Small Batch Rye (46%)

J. Henry 4 Grain is a small batch straight rye whiskey made by J. Henry & Sons in Wisconsin. The mash bill uses four grains (rye, sweet corn, winter wheat and malted barley), all grown on the family farm. It is aged in heavily charred new oak barrels in a dairy barn without temperature control, and bottled at 92 proof. The balance runs between sweet corn and sharp, peppery rye spice. The nose is floral and fruity, with citrus peel, sweet summer corn and warm baking spices. The palate is smooth and rich, with rye spice, vanilla bean, dark fruit and toasted oak. The finish is medium to long and warming, with lingering pepper and soft caramel.
