J. Henry La Flamme Reserve 5 Year Bourbon Armagnac Finish (75cl, 56.8%)

A Wisconsin bourbon from 45th Parallel Distillery, aged for five years and then finished for eight months in French Armagnac casks. It is bottled at 56.75% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The mashbill is built on heirloom red corn, a variety developed at the University of Wisconsin in 1939, alongside heirloom wheat, rye and malted barley. The bourbon first ages in a Wisconsin barn, where the temperature is not controlled. The nose has cinnamon, chilli powder, golden raisin, tobacco leaf and cornbread. On the palate come cornbread sweetness and vanilla, then baked apple and dark raisin. The finish is long, with cinnamon pie crust, dried fruit, oak char and a note of tobacco and black pepper.
