J. Henry & Sons Reserva Sevillana Rye is a cask-strength Wisconsin rye whiskey, bottled at 56.5% in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is four-grain: 64% rye, 14% red winter wheat, 14% heirloom corn and 8% malted barley, all from the distillery's own farmland in Dane.
After four to six years of ageing, the whiskey is finished in Vino Naranja casks from Bodegas Juncales in Spain. These held a fortified white wine macerated with Sevillian orange peel. Each release is drawn from 20 barrels.
The nose offers orange blossom honey, lemon meringue pie, grilled pineapple and dark cherry. The palate is milk chocolate orange and candied peel, then baking spice and black pepper. The finish is soft and long, with brown butter, milk chocolate and ruby grapefruit.
