Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack is a Tennessee whiskey bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle, matured in oak casks.
Jasper Newton Daniel bought his first still in 1846, aged 14, from a local preacher and distiller. He first sold his whiskey only in the neighbourhood, and in 1866 his was the first distillery entered in the commercial register of a US state.
After his death the business passed to his sons. Brown-Forman bought it in 1955, and it became a worldwide brand.
