Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Series No. 1 is a Tennessee whiskey honouring Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel, founder and first Master Distiller of the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg. It was the first release in a six-bottle series issued between 2012 and 2017, and it marks his tenure from 1866 to 1911.
The whiskey is charcoal mellowed through sugar maple charcoal, aged in new American oak and bottled at 86 proof (43%).
The nose brings burnt caramel, toasted vanilla and maple syrup with a hint of oak. On the palate are butterscotch, toffee, red apple and a gentle pepper spice, followed by a long, warm finish with added oak depth.
