Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Series No. 3 is a limited edition Tennessee whiskey honouring Lem Tolley, the third Master Distiller at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg. A grandnephew of Jack Daniel, Tolley held the role from 1941 to 1964. This release came out in 2014, as part of a six-bottle series issued between 2012 and 2017.
The whiskey is charcoal mellowed through sugar maple charcoal in the Lincoln County Process and aged in new American oak. It is bottled at 86 proof (43%).
The nose is aromatic, with vanilla, toasted oak and soft caramel. The palate is smooth and soft, with gentle spice, and the finish is medium long, with a touch of spice and soft char.
