Jack Daniel's No. 27 Gold is a Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is described as double barreled and double mellowed.
The whiskey is first aged for a minimum of four years in charred American white oak, then moved to handcrafted maple wood barrels for six months to a year. After the maple barrels it goes through the Lincoln County Process a second time, dripped through sugar maple charcoal before bottling.
The nose brings warm maple syrup, soft caramel, toasted oak and vanilla bean, with baked corn, banana and a hint of rye spice. The palate is smooth and velvety, led by maple sugar and caramel, with honeyed oak, vanilla cream, toffee and a touch of cinnamon.
