Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Series No. 2 is a limited edition Tennessee whiskey honouring Jess Motlow, the second Master Distiller of the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg. It was released in 2013 in a 750ml bottle at 86 proof (43%).
Motlow held the role from 1911 to 1941 and led the distillery through Prohibition. Each bottle is individually numbered, and the commemorative boxes in the series complete a larger image when set side by side.
The nose offers vanilla, toasted oak and caramel with a hint of smoky char. The palate is smooth, with honey, ripe fruit and a touch of pepper, and the finish is medium and mellow with vanilla and soft char.
