Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof is a Tennessee whiskey bottled from an individual barrel without dilution. Launched in 2015, it was the distillery's first barrel strength release. The whiskey comes from the upper floors of the Lynchburg barrelhouses, where the temperature swings are greatest. It is made from a mashbill of 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley and 8 percent rye, charcoal mellowed and matured in new charred American oak. The strength varies from barrel to barrel, generally between roughly 125 and 140 proof, and the neck band records the barrel number, proof and bottling details. It is described as deep amber, with ripe banana, vanilla wafer, maple and toasted almond on the nose, and a thick, viscous palate of banana nut bread, maple sugar, toffee and toasted oak.
