Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Special Release Heritage Barrel is a Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, bottled one barrel at a time at 100 proof (50%). It was aged for at least seven years in barrelhouse 1-09 on Coy Hill, one of the highest elevation barrelhouses. The barrel is the point of difference: a low temperature heavy toast with only a light char, filled at a barrel entry proof of 100 degrees. The mash bill is 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley and 8 percent rye, and the whiskey is charcoal mellowed. The nose is soft toasted oak with vanilla custard, graham cracker, caramel and cinnamon. The palate is rich and honey forward, with marshmallow, toffee, candied fruit and brown sugar, and the finish is long, with brown sugar and toasted marshmallow.
