An unaged rye spirit from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, bottled at 40% straight from the still without any time in a barrel. It was released in 2012 as Batch 001 and was the first step in Jack Daniel's three-part rye release, followed by the Rested Tennessee Rye in 2014 and the matured Tennessee Rye in 2017.
It is made from a mashbill of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley, the first new grain recipe from the distillery in more than a century. The label classes it as a neutral spirit from a rye mash, and it is clear in colour.
The nose has fresh cracked rye, green grain, white pepper and citrus. The palate is bright and grain-forward with a clean, slightly oily texture, and the finish is crisp and short.
