A small batch Kentucky straight bourbon from Jim Beam, aged 12 years in charred new American oak and bottled at 86 proof (43%). It was released in 2013 as the flagship of the Signature Craft series, with the barrels hand selected by master distiller Fred Noe.
The mash bill is roughly 77 percent corn, 13 percent rye and 10 percent malted barley, a slight departure from the standard Beam recipe. The colour is a deep coppery amber.
The nose is toasted oak and leather with sweet roasted corn, light caramel, vanilla and a little cinnamon. On the palate there is soft vanilla and toffee with cinnamon, dry oak, marzipan and a hint of citrus.
