Kanosuke – Single Malt Sherry Casks Vatted (70cl, 48%)

A limited edition Japanese single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, part of the Kanosuke Single Malt series, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It is built around Oloroso and Cream sherry casks, with shochu casks and a touch of new American white oak. The whiskies were distilled in three pot stills. The shochu casks add a gentle Japanese spice, and the new oak adds brightness. The colour is reddish amber. The nose is dark cherry, vanilla, Japanese cinnamon and raspberry. The palate brings soft raisins, dark chocolate, cloves and fruit pound cake. The finish is long, with tropical mangosteen and a subtle, oaky dryness.
