Kanosuke – Single Malt (70cl, 48%)

Kanosuke Single Malt is a Japanese whisky bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes from the Kanosuke Distillery at Fukiagehama in Kagoshima Prefecture, set up by Komasa Jyozo, a company known for shochu. The distillery runs three distinct pot stills and matures its whisky in a climate shaped by the East China Sea. Ex-shochu casks are among those it uses, alongside bourbon and sherry barrels. The nose offers pear, apple, floral notes, vanilla bean and toasted oak, with a light maritime edge. On the palate are sweet malt, dried apricot, citrus zest, ginger and white pepper. The finish is clean and lingering, with a faint savoury note and gentle warmth.
