Kilchoman – 100% Islay 12th Edition 2022 (70cl, 50%)

This is the 12th edition of Kilchoman's 100% Islay series, a single malt made from barley grown on a single Islay farm. The spirit was distilled from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 harvests, then matured for at least eight years in 19 bourbon barrels and six oloroso sherry butts. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose opens with sweet peat smoke, then homemade jam, lemon blossom, fudge and kitchen spices. The palate brings orange chocolate, toasted nuts and burnt banana bread, with aromatic smoke and sweet figs. The finish is bittersweet cocoa, woody smoke and cinnamon sticks.
