Kilchoman – 13 Years

A 13-year-old peated single malt from Kilchoman on Islay, released as a limited edition. It matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, octave casks and Calvados casks, which gave it a lively, fruity profile with sweet notes of apple and muesli around a core of bright smoke. Kilchoman was founded in 2005 and was the first new distillery built on Islay in over 124 years. The nose is fresh and zesty, with sherbet sweets, candied pineapple, rooibos tea and coastal peat. The palate offers dried apples, nutty muesli and toasted grain, with stewed orchard fruit and smoky brine beneath. In the finish, fresh fruit lingers with earthy peat, vanilla and salted lemons.
