Kilchoman – 9 Year Old Single Cask Franz Hahn Spätburgunder Wine Finish (56%)

This is a nine-year-old single cask Kilchoman from Islay, bottled at 56% under the Specialist's Choice label. The single malt was distilled on 19 December 2016. An ex-Weinhaus Franz Hahn Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) cask was sent to the distillery in 2022 and filled with the spirit. The wine cask, number 16/1127, adds red fruit to the Kilchoman character and gives the whisky extra layers. It produced 238 hand-numbered bottles. The nose is peaty smoke with hints of blackberry and blackcurrant. The palate brings peat, ripe fruit, brioche, marzipan and a light fennel and aniseed note. The finish is long and lasting, with the fruit growing more prominent.
