Kilchoman – Machir Bay (70cl, 46%)

Machir Bay is a peated Islay single malt from Kilchoman, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of Kilchoman distillate matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. The name comes from one of Islay's most striking beaches. A high proportion of bourbon barrels gives a balance between classic Islay character and fresh, floral notes. The nose offers stewed fruits, peat smoke and ash. On the palate it is full-bodied, with stewed fruits developing beside soft vanilla, candied citrus, earth, fresh barley and pepper. The finish is long, with maritime notes.
