Kilchoman – Port Cask Matured 2024

This is a limited release single malt from Kilchoman on Islay, matured entirely in ruby port casks. Two whiskies of contrasting ages were combined, the youngest of them matured for 6 years. Red berries and smoked meat run alongside the savoury peat smoke at its core. The nose is stewed red berries, fig rolls, sweet barbecue sauce and a pinch of cinnamon. On the palate are jammy strawberries, cranberries and cured, smoked meat, with fragrant, leathery oak and dense smoke. The finish holds ashy charcoal and the sweetness of red fruit, with woody spice and tobacco beneath.
