Kilchoman – Small Batch French Inspiration #2 Islay Selection by LMDW (70cl, 49.1%)

This is a small batch Kilchoman made for the Islay Selection 2022 by LMDW, the second release under the French Inspiration name. It is a blend of ex-bourbon, Oloroso and Sauternes casks, bottled at 49.1%. Citrus and peat smoke, the hallmarks of Kilchoman, sit alongside apricot, honey and white grape from the ex-Sauternes casks. The nose is hay, saline peat and tobacco, with honey and orange zest. The palate moves to bitter cocoa and dark chocolate, with apricot, white grape and floral notes. The finish is long and smooth, with liquorice replacing the chocolate bitterness.
