Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a mix of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, and it is natural colour and non-chill-filtered.
The nose opens with sweet confectionery: Turkish delight, pear drops and marzipan, with a little peat smoke like toasted marshmallows by a campfire. On the palate, lemon cheesecake and citrus come first, along with the oily texture typical of Campbeltown. Peat smoke, leather-bound books, pepper and sticky toffee pudding follow. The finish carries campfire embers, pecan pie and butterscotch.
