Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch No. 12 is a single malt from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, in a 700ml bottle. Part of the Peat in Progress series, it is released at cask strength, 116.8 proof, and is peated to around 45PPM.
It was matured in 90% bourbon and 10% sherry casks.
Butterscotch and caramel lead the nose, followed by rye bread and tea leaf. The palate is oily and smoky, with Iberico ham and brandy snaps. A gentle finish brings lemon sherbet, honeycomb and mint, with peat smoke running through it.
