Knappogue Castle 12 Year Old Marsala Cask Finish (70cl, 46%)

This is a 12 year old Irish single malt from Knappogue Castle, part of its Cask Finish Series of single malts finished in wine casks. It is the Marco De Bartoli limited release, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. The whisky was matured in bourbon barrels for a minimum of 12 years, then aged further in casks from a Marsala winery. It is made from malted barley only, distilled in copper pot stills and bottled non-chill filtered. The nose is dried fruit, mocha and vanilla. The palate is juicy, savoury and light, leading to fruity notes, and the finish has hints of fruit and dry oak.
