This is an 18 year old brandy from F. Korbel & Bros. in Sonoma County, California, made entirely from California grapes, including French Colombard from the Russian River Valley.
Around a third of the blend is distilled in traditional alambic pot stills, with the rest coming from copper-lined continuous column stills. The spirit then matures in seasoned French oak barrels that previously held Chardonnay.
The nose offers ripe orchard fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, soft caramel and baking spice. The palate is smooth and richly textured, with vanilla, butterscotch, honeyed oak and gentle spice. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak, mellow spice and soft fruit.
