This is a 25 year old brandy from F. Korbel & Bros., the Sonoma County house founded in 1882. It is the oldest brandy in the Korbel range and is bottled at 40% ABV.
It is distilled mainly from California grapes, including Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley and French Colombard. Distillation uses both copper pot stills and a copper-lined column still. The brandy then ages in American oak barrels.
The nose shows dried fig, raisin and toasted oak, with vanilla, caramel, subtle spice, cocoa and a hint of leather. The palate is silky and concentrated, with dark caramel, honeyed oak, vanilla bean, dried fruit and baking spices. The finish is long and warming, with mellow oak and gentle sweetness.
