Kujira 15 Year Old is a Ryukyu whisky from Masahiro Distillery in Okinawa, Japan, made from 100% Indica rice with black koji. It is aged for over fifteen years in oak casks in Okinawa's subtropical climate and bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It is non-chill-filtered with no added colour, and won Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2021.
The nose brings dried plums, candied fruit, mint and chocolate. On the palate come chocolate, vanilla, honey and spice with a little smoke and toasted bread. The finish is smooth, long and clean, with sweet liquorice and pepper.
